That structure produces the number this culture argues about most: the potential score. An app that sells improvement earns nothing from telling you the gap between your face and your ceiling is small. No listing we checked publishes the formula behind its score or its potential, so neither number can be audited by the person paying for it. That is not a claim that any particular app inflates anything. It is the reason a rating you cannot check is worth less than one you can.

The category sells a future face; a routine like this one is what the evidence actually supports. Grooming, sleep and skin care sit in the reversible lane: modest, checkable changes that need no subscription and no potential score to justify them. How This Rating Works Instead

This rating works by running an AI facial analysis of 478 landmarks entirely in your browser, then scoring five published quantities: symmetry, facial thirds, facial fifths, golden ratio proximity, and harmony. Photos never leave your browser during the free scan. The measurement happens on your device, and you can open the network tab and watch nothing upload; what on-device means, exactly and testably, is written down on the privacy page. The formula that combines the five measurements into one score is published and versioned as Score v1.0, with its failure conditions listed: how we measure, and where the measurement fails. No subscription exists on this page. The number appears whether or not you ever spend anything.

What You Get, and What We Withhold

You get five measurements and one score; we withhold the three numbers we cannot yet defend. No PSL tier: the free scan measures geometry, and a PSL tier is a forum taste ladder rather than a measurement, explained band by band on the PSL scale. No percentile: a percentile is a claim about a reference population, and none exists for this instrument yet, so printing one would be a guess dressed as a statistic. No confidence band: that number waits on a test-retest study this site has not finished. All three ship when the data behind them exists, not before. We would rather return a shorter result than a padded one.

How This Differs From the Rating Apps

This test differs from the category's rating apps on four checkable factors, each taken from the apps' own store listings rather than from anyone's review of them. Where a listing publishes nothing on a factor, the table says so instead of filling the gap with a guess.
